Beach...all the time

So I've been trying to put pictures up on the last posts but so far I haven't been able to..I'm working on making a flickr so everyone without a Facebook can see some pictures!

So last week at school...I went the first 3 classes on Monday then the exchangers staying longer than 90 days went with our local coordinator to the place we needed to go to get our visas stamped or something of the sort.
Tuesday I didn't go to school...I heard sad news about my dog maybe not being able to come to Botswana and I was sick so I took the day off and slept most of it. At 6ish I met with Rocio and Ismael, 2 coordinators with InterHispania and spoke with them about switching schools.

Wednesday was the day of Rosario, the patron saint of Cadiz (I think that's her name..) so we didn't have school. I went to the beach with friends, La Playa Santa Maria, and it was the first time I had been there...there were a lot of surfers and I think that's one of my favorite beaches, between that and Playa Victoria.

Thursday I didn't go to school. One of the directors at the school had died on Tuesday night and there was a viewing or memorial service all morning til 11:30 so I didn't have to go until then but then Maite, my host mom, called and was like "it's raining...the roads are slippery...I don't want you falling...it's your choice if you want to go to school or not" so I obviously chose not too since I absolutely hate my school here. But hopefully I'll be at a new one in a few weeks.

Friday was my only real day at school that week. It was OK...

Friday night I hung out with exchange friends, Saturday a big group of us exchangers went to the beach and that night we all went out and had fun. Sunday we went to the beach again, the same big group of exchange students and then everyone had different plans for that night. Since I live in San Fernando, about 15 or 20 minutes outside of Cadiz, and it's a 3euro round trip bus ride, I didn't feel like going home for dinner so Jade (also in San Fernando), Fannie, Eli, Fabian and I all went to the very Spanish McDonalds for a cheap dinner. We didn't really have plans for that night except playing cards on the beach but then I ran into my only Spanish friend, Sara, same girl from a few weeks ago. She was with a big group of her friends and we ended up tagging along with them to a place called YiYi or something, and it was a pool hall type thing. The professionals hogged the table all night but we played darts then moved outside to the beach where we played some cards and met up with some more kids. We're planning a party for next weekend so a bunch of Spanish kids (Sara's friends) can meet all us exchange students. It'll be nice because so far her and her friends are my only Spanish friends haha...good thing I love all of them! It's funny when we're all together because it's always a mix of English, Spanish, German, French, and Italian...and everyone gets to practice the language they're taking in school.

Monday we didn't have school either, it was a national holiday in Spain, so none of us had school. I slept in, and then walked the 10 or 15 minute (very hot) walk to Bahía Sur, a really nice shopping center here in San Fernando. I shopped for 3 or so hours and got some clothes and shoes but mostly stuff for yoga, which starts tomorrow! So excited. And I went into the Carrefour, a cheaper version of Corte Inglés, and bought my own stash of Nutella, a loaf of bread (to make nutella bocadillos), my own personal knife for spreading and miniature spoon to carry in my purse whenever I have cravings for a pint of ice cream (Mary Beth will appreciate this.) I just made a nutella bocadillo actually...I feel bad sneaking around making them but they're always like "nutella isn't real food" which is true but it's too good to pass up. I got a HUGE container of it haha...

Today I went to school, and as usual it was horrible. The kids are talking to me less and less even when I try to talk to them, but I'm not letting it get me down since hopefully I'll be at a new school in a few weeks. Tonight we have a reunion for the InterHispania exchangers organized by Rocio and I have to leave for that soon. I'm not really sure what we're doing but I'm sure it'll be fun, I love all the kids placed in Cádiz. And hopefully Rocio will have some more (hopefully good) news about me switching schools!
